Children Protection

Our main partner — Ukrainian Education Platform, has implemented projects in the Children Protection field:

1. Project “Opening of children's points SPILNO with the UN Children's Foundation UNICEF”

Responding to emergencies to meet the needs of children from affected communities and their families affected by the war in Ukraine by strengthening community-level social services, psycho-emotional support, and family-oriented case management.

Achievements:

  • 20 Spino Points are founded in 6 oblasts of Ukraine
  • More than 1000 beneficiaries ( social workers) were provided with comprehensive help and support using the case management method
  • More than 30 000 children provided with psychosocial support services
  • More than 1000 social work specialists were teached
  • More than 40 000 children trained in mine safety.
  • More than 1000 beneficiaries (children and parents) are provided with online psychosocial support.
  • More than 40 psychologists were involved to help children and parents from regions affected by war.

Plans:

  • To involve a greater number of psychologists in providing assistance to families from affected regions.
  • To increase the number of direct beneficiaries who will undergo a course in mine safety.
  • Transform existing spaces into rooms for providing social services to support communities.
  • Initiate art therapy in social work with children.
  • Collaborate with the Yeromenko Scientific Institute for even more effective provision of social and psychological assistance to children.

2. Space of Care (Prostir turboty)

Achievements:

Over 1,600 children and their parents during the distressing times of the full-scale invasion were provided with a service of shelter room.

Plans:

  • Adapting the space of care into a center for providing social and educational services to families.
  • Involving a greater number of tutors and teachers, reinforcing the social tutoring component.
  • Expanding the physical facility.

3. Domivka

Coordination centers were created to assist in finding housing in 4 oblasts in the western region of Ukraine.

Achievements:

More than 1000 IDPs provided with comfortable living and socialization conditions through six shelters in 4 regions  with additional support from the Ronald McDonald's House Foundation for creating children's rooms in Zhvyrka and homes for people with disabilities in Velykyi Bychkiv, in collaboration with the Legal Development Network and the Vulyk Zmistiv social initiative.

Plans:

Expanding the operation of shelters to include new regions.

4. SOS Children (completed)

Providing humanitarian support and psychosocial support to mothers with children from affected communities. Assistance in accommodation in places of mass settlement.

Achievements:

More than 22 000 people (12,205 of them are children) from affected regions were supported in Lviv, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions.

5. Good Neighbour (Dobryi Susid)

Project exists in the form of a volunteer movement, when volunteers are trained to support families in crisis in their communities - e.g. guide them to get access to education/job opportunities, social services and social benefits.Involvement of communities in order to preserve the biological family. Prevention of removal of the child to an institutional facility by means of social support. Supporting families in crisis.

Achievements:

  • More, than 48 families ( in which were rosen 104 children) were supported with social? humanitarian, educational assistance
  • More than 40 volunteers (good neighbors and good neighbours) were involved.

Plans:

  • Opening of 6 new branches of "Good Neighbors" in Kropyvnytskyi, Smila, Dnipro, Chernihiv.
